The vision for the Elephant Gala was to step away from traditional static displays and instead create an unforgettable, living, and looping cinematic experience. The project aimed to bring guests face-to-face with the majesty of the African Elephant in a way that inspired awe, joy, and love. Crucially, the goal of this purely entertainment-driven space was not to evoke pity, but to foster celebration and deep emotional attachment, allowing guests to leave feeling inspired by admiration, connection, and hope. This immersive journey was designed to seamlessly complement the event's separate Drone Show, which served as the actual call to action.

To maximize its impact, the content was crafted to build profound empathy by showcasing elephants—particularly playful calves and protective matriarchs—as highly intelligent, emotional beings with deep family bonds. Rather than simply entertaining, the project succeeded in creating a powerful, multi-sensory memory. By blending spatial audio with environmental haptics like wind, heat, and mist, audiences connected with the elephants' world in a visceral way that traditional film simply cannot achieve. The result is a deeply emotional journey designed to stay with guests long after they step out of the immersive space.

What we physically built is a transportable, semi-permanent immersive projection space styled as an African savannah outpost. The environment features 3.5 curved walls utilizing 4K ultra-short throw projectors, completely wrapping guests in a panoramic visual experience. At its core, the installation runs on a flexible pipeline powered by Unreal Engine, which seamlessly synchronizes pre-rendered hybrid media, real-time visual elements, and haptic outputs. Supported by a fully spatialized Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 audio system, this setup acts as a high-fidelity, multi-user shared environment with the built-in scalability to add deeper interactivity and IoT-driven elements in the future.

Feature Category Description
Physical Space A transportable, semi-permanent 32' x 45' installation designed as an African savannah outpost.
Projection Surface Features 3.5 curved walls optimized for 4K ultra-short throw projectors (0-offset), with a design that allows for future extension into a fully enclosed four-wall environment.
Software Engine Powered by Unreal Engine at its core to manage the synchronization of video, audio, and haptic outputs.
Media & Pipeline Utilizes a hybrid media mix (live-action footage, Unreal/Blender CG, AI-generated content, and motion graphics) within a flexible pipeline blending pre-rendered cinematic content and real-time elements.
Audio System A fully spatialized Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 mix designed for a multi-user shared experience, with built-in expandability for 64-channel controllers (e.g., CP950-A).
Haptics & Sensory Incorporates environmental sensory effects like wind, heat, and mist to heighten the visceral impact of the experience.
Narrative Structure A continuously looping, open-flow three-act cinematic journey (moving from awe to connection to hope) so guests can enter anytime.
